Founding Team: Restaurant Bookkeeper/Accountant

We are building a customer-facing accounting team that will partner with restaurant operators to manage their business. As a restaurant accountant, you will manage all aspects of financial bookkeeping for multiple restaurants (except filing taxes). You will partner directly with restaurant owners and operators to manage their books, pay their bills, reconcile all transactions, produce weekly reporting, and ultimately be more profitable.

The ideal candidate is excited to join an early stage startup that could define their entire career. This is a full-time role with equity, but all bookkeepers start as contractors to make sure they are a good fit.

This is some of what you will do:

Daily

  • Record & reconcile POS sales and Deposits
  • Manage vendor invoices and proper GL coding

Weekly

  • Bill pay; help operators manage approval and payment for outstanding invoices
  • Produce Hone reports to provide insight
  • Record & reconcile payroll
  •  

Monthly

  • Pay sales taxes
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Produce monthly income statements and balance sheet

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Client engagement: Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience managing the books for a restaurant group or multiple individual restaurants
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Quickbooks Online
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-directed / Strong sense of ownership
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understands and values hospitality
  • Smart and motivated team player
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
